Unabashedly Overkill...

I bought one of these tonight. One thing Marie Callender's does very well is pot pies. They just take forever to cook in the microwave (about 12 minutes).

Mrs. Marie Would Be Proud...

Kroger was hopping busy tonight with a lot of employees on duty. Usually, they have a skeleton crew. Dad and I were pretty early in our arrival for shopping, though. I bet it clears out about nine.

I was getting some bananas in produce when I heard a very familiar voice.

"Hey, fella! Are you any good with computers?" Jermaine asked.

Jermaine was getting some grapes which he will eat as he goes about his shopping.

"I know my way around a computer or two," I replied.

"Someone gave me a computer and I got internet installed today," Jermaine said. "It is as slow as Christmas."

"You need to get a better computer most likely or you need to reinstall windows," I told him. "I am sure the internet connection is plenty fast."

Jermaine looked kind of perplexed as I told him to look for a system restore disc and that I still had my shopping to do. I left him as he was popping a white grape into his mouth.

Tonight was the night of Marrie Callendar's meals. I got maybe twenty Marie Callender meals which made my father very happy. I showed him the batter fried fish dinner.

"This lowly and unlikely meal is surprisingly good," I told my father. "They even put cheese on the broccoli."

Dad then had to do some shopping of his own -- things he forgot from his previous shopping in the day.

"Are you going to be able to load up your car okay?" he asked me and I told him to go do his thing.

"I will be fine," I replied.

I spent over $90 dollars and acted coyly dumbstruck. I knew all those meals were going to be expensive. Dad didn't say a word and I didn't offer my two cents as well. We let the matter rest.

My Fickle Brain is the Driver -- I am Just the Passenger...

It's funny how my brain works. I haven't been hungry all day disdaining any food. Suddenly something clicked in my brain and I am extra ravishingly hungry. I still have some time to wait until I can eat as my meds are soaking in. There is a big lasagna in the microwave getting hot and the cheese melted, though. Dinner will be served extra late at 11:30 PM I fear. Papa was super late with the medications tonight -- not arriving till after 10 PM. I took my medications at 10:30 PM.

"You must be beside yourself," my father said profusely apologizing.

He had got caught on the phone with one of the cousins he is going to Florida with in the morning. I am used to playing second fiddle around here. It is now time for the gravy train to roll through town otherwise known as Charlie. Charlie will be the boss dog around here for a week. Maggie and I both will be elated.

Maggie Meets Marie's Meatloaf...

Marie Callender's has a new fan tonight and her name is the Duchess, her highness, the Magster.

I warmed two Marie Callender's meatloaf meals up in the microwave. I like to make them into sandwiches with a little added ketchup and mayo. Maggie was begging for a nibble or a bite. She just went crazy for more. So crazy that I had to give her my other sandwich. She even ate the corn and potatoes that came with it and that surprised me.

"Just what are you feeding this dog?" I can hear my father ask.

I am pretty sure Maggie will be passing some noxious wind come around midnight.

Comings and Goings...

It was medication time a moment ago. Usually, Papa is a pretty dapper fellow but he was very frumpy and disheveled tonight and pretty late. I think he might have had a little white Zinfandel. God, I'd drink a bottle of the stuff right now if I had it as well.

"We've got to find Maggie's flea and heart-worm medications," He said to me tonight which was the pressing issue of the evening. "I don't have any idea were Martha kept them, though."

Dad was scratching his head in thought when he asked me to ride down to Walmart and buy some. He was going to fund it.

"No thanks," I told my father., "You're not getting me in Walmart this time of night. I will go tomorrow as soon as I get up and get going."

And Let There Be Bachelor Food...

Yes, it is grocery Monday and my hamster is spinning swiftly in his wheel...

An easy meal for me is to thaw a big frozen box of 12 pepperoni pizza Hot Pockets in the fridge and then warm two of them in the microwave for 2 minutes on a paper plate. It is a filling and tasty meal for this pizza lover. I don't even crisp them in the supplied crispers.  I like the softer texture of the non-crisped dough. The crispers are also aggravating as you try to get each crisper on your pocket.

You Rang?

My father has also called and is harping about those Marie Callendar meals. Groundhog day anyone?

"Get on their website and check out some meals that look tasty and you haven't tried yet," my father told me a moment ago. "Let's keep things fresh so you will keep eating them!"

I keep seeing these commercials on TV about the Devour brand of frozen meals and about how good they are, Well, I tried the lasagna a few weeks back and was not impressed. It tasted just like Stouffer's which I do not like. Marie's is much better with her 3 meat and 4 cheese lasagna.

Has anyone tried this yet?

I think it has Stevia as the sweetener with some cane sugar added as well. I might try a six pack tonight. There seems to be this adversity to high fructose corn syrup which is fueling these drink experiments.
