Mom and dad wanted to take me out to eat for my sobriety birthday. My sponsor is mad at me for not letting myself have a birthday party at AA with the almost gold medallion. I have decided just to stay in and do what I love most. Having quiet time with Maggie and the Internet. Mom did just go and buy me supper. A Wendy's double with cheese and a large fry. I am full and set for the evening.

I KNEW you could do it!!!!! I remember when you put that counter up....and when it hit 60 days how proud everyone was! Now look at you...a whole year. You have accomplished what you once thought could never be done, my friend.

There's always next year.
Meantime, here's a thought: Sometimes when we refuse a gift or a favor from someone else, we deprive them of the pleasure of giving. This had to be pointed out to me, and I am still resistant sometimes, too.
You have mentioned your thoughts of appreciation for the things your family does for you. Giving just a little back can be so simple. Your time is a commodity you can share with them. You don't have to go overboard, just consider their feelings when you are thinking about why you don't want to do something.
EOL (End of Lecture)
Good for you! Good for fighting the alcohol demons and good for knowing what you want to do and -- doing it. (I'm older than you and even tho I pretty much know what I want to do, I'm still learning to do it if someone else wants me to do something else.)
An incredible day and a wonderful achievement!!!
Congratulations!!
Congratulations and Happy Sobriety Birthday! Wendy's sounds wonderful to me!
