My 83 year old grandmother fell and broke her hip tonight. Surgery is tomorrow at 1:30 PM. The prospects are grim. If I am not posting for a few days then you know I am dealing with issues surrounding my grandmother.
I'm so sorry. I'm 56 years old and had a hip replacement 3 weeks ago. It wasn't nearly as rough a surgery as I expected. Of course, I'm a good bit younger than your grandmother - but I know of several elderly people who have come through hip replacements just fine. I will send you and your family lots of good thoughts and hope your grandmother does well.
How is your grandma doing? I'm thinking they wouldn't have done the surgery if they weren't confident. I hope she's a fighter and has a strong will to walk. Let us know how she's doing, OK?

Andrew, I hope that things will go okay for your grandmother. There are wonders that can be done with broken bones in the elderly now.
