Talked to County mental health. The earliest they could work me in was the first part of February. That is just too long to go without money. I have an appointment for Feb. 11th to get my disability put into a third party. The catch? I have to change doctors and change service providers. I am not sure I want to leave my doctor seeing that I am stable now. Other things...
- Submitted paperwork to run my Motor Vehicle Record for Domino's Pizza.
- Put in application for employment at Goodwill. Goodwill tends to employ people with disabilities.
- Job interview 9am Monday at Burger King.
I am making progress, but I still don't think I will get a job. I always remember getting hired to be much quicker. I used to could find a job in a day and did when I worked at AutoZone.
I am feeling entirely inadequate as far as my writing goes. It has been sloppy and thoughtless. I haven't put any effort into this blog lately and it is suffering. I am going to try to walk tomorrow to get up a good post -- possibly going down to the shopping center to get up material to write. I have just been so busy trying to get my life straightened out that my writings have been lacking.

Have you ever contacted the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services, http://www.rehab.state.al.us/Home/default.aspx?url=/Home/Services/VRS/Main,
One of the things they are supposed to do is help people getting SSDI find work while protecting their benefits as much as possible. They also help people who have disabilities find work.
Unfortunately they are woefully underfunded; fortunately they really like motivated, talented, intelligent job seeks like you.
You're lucky we don't just come here for your "stories" we come here to check up on you and make sure everything is going alright. You're blog is fine, you are fine. Just relax a bit. It will come.
You are a hero to all us schzophrenics. I want to see how you handle work so I can see if I should attempt it. It just seems so hard...

Do you think you & rosa will get back together?
Although us readers love to hear about your life, and appreciate the sheer amount of work and dedication you put into your blog, perhaps a short vacation from writing could help motivate your natural creativity and allow you to focus more on other details of your life.
I can not see an opposition between straightening out life and doing this blog: It is you. And because of you people come here.
Hello Sir:
I applaud you for your intensive efforts today! I am wondering, however, if you might have better luck pursuing your possible SSDI designated payee issue through your current doctor? Unless your neck of the woods are very different from mine, he/she should be able to help you wade through the bureaucratic nonsense in a much more rapid and less frustrating manner than it appears your current route entails. I would suspect he/she may be able to help you a) keep him/her as your doctor, b) keep your current service provider, and get the designated payee changed far faster than in February.
Just something to think about and consider.
Your friend,
PipeTobacco
Hello Andrew! I am so glad that things are still moving along. As for getting a job, everything is a slow process these days full of hoops to jump through and red tape. My brother got a job recently and the whole process took 3 weeks. It was crazy!
I think your readers are happy with your current post, the struggles and issues not all of us deal with. When it comes right down to it (and please other commenter's add if you agree or disagree) I would prefer to hear more about these issues- then you going down to the shopping center and being around alcohol. You have only been sober for days, why tempt things just to fill your blog? Your reader would much rather support your sobriety then have what you consider colorful tails of the shopping center gang.
Anyone else...
Don't worry about your writing. As one of your biggest fans, I appreciate everything you have to share regardless of how eloquent you think it is. I want to read about your day, you, your feelings, your thoughts, your struggles. Just write as it comes. Don't force it. If you have something to say, then say it. Don't worry if it's profound or insightful or colorful. If I only wrote at those times, I would write a few times a year... and yet people still want to read about my dull days. Don't think you have to please your readers all the time. Most of us read because we simply care about you, Andrew. It doesn't matter if your style is something exceptional.
I agree with your commenting friends. Don't dig up stories for our sake. Just be you and write about what's on your mind. I'm glad you're getting so many comments. Shows you how many people care about you.
I am glad you don't mind all of us delivering our opinions to your inbox constantly. My opinion today is, you will work all of this out in time. The hardest things for us humans to do is to learn that you perservere and you will make progress, but not as past as you want it. Keep writing, it doesn't have to be profound, keep volunteering and keep the ends out for a job and it will come. Stress won't make it come any faster.
I have a good feeling about Goodwill and don't feel bad about the hiring process.... it just takes longer nowadays.
As for your writing... if I could write as well as you do, I'd be so happy. I wish you could see yourself through "our" eyes.
You would be amazed (at yourself.)

you will get hired , im sure of it , because you have so much to give . dont quit on us now . we all care so much about you andrew huggg to you
have a good eve. :)
no,no, no, I don't think your writing is sloppy and thoughtless, it's always been a good read, wishing all the best in all your effort to keep yourself busy and to straighten out things in your life, which do you prefer to work for? dominos or burger king? can you take both jobs just in case?
to be blunt: write about *you*. that's interesting. the 'gang' causes boring anxiety- like watching a train wreck of other peoples lives in slow motion. And you tend to walk in front of the train.
Did you give up on volenteering?
Andrew,
My daughter is 19. She has a job working in a local restaurant, but wanted something with steadier pay. She put an application in with another place and went for an interview a couple of days later. They just called her to hire her 2 months after the fact. Sometimes it just takes time. I think concerned2 gave some good advice and I also think that Goodwill could be an excellent choice. Hang in there. I enjoy these stories more than the shopping center ones. I know things are hard right now, but it will get better if you stay focused.
Write when you feel like it. Don't feel that you have to entertain me/us. We like reading about you. I miss your stories of the food your parent's housekeeper cooked. It made me want to get on a train and head south.
sugar, at some point, EVERY writer feels inadequate about their writing! you have a natural style and grace to your writing because you don't force it and that is why people (including myself) keep coming back. trust in yourself!
Don't worry about coming up with something to say, just speak from the heart. You are way too hard on yourself these days with all aspects of your life. Take it easy. Go with the flow. If it leads to drinking though, turn around the other way and run like hell. Please tell me, have you seen Dumpster Dan? Has he been by to pick up more canned spaghetti? I hope he is doing well.
