A local locksmith is busy changing the locks on my car today. All I know is my mother called and asked me what model year it was (2001) and said they were changing the locks over at the police station. Hopefully, this means my car will be returned to me soon. I am going to take a long ride out in the country and really let my hair down. I never drove much, but didn't realize how much I would just miss the freedom of having the option to drive.
I meet the vocational rehabilitation case manager next Thursday at the hospital. I am so excited. I haven't been this excited about something in years and years. I have read where they will pay for you to go to a vocational school. I have thought about car repair/mechanics as a job. I actually went to school to be a mechanic for a year, but my ex-wife didn't like the idea at the time. Her and my father talked me into quitting and going to work for AutoZone as a shift manager. I have a very keen aptitude for doing this -- almost a gift.

I am SO exited that you are getting your car back soon. I think it is a great idea too that you have some ideas for you have some ideas for when you see the bvr person. I know in Ohio at times they help people with car problems just thinking if your car needs some work to drive more I would ask them about it.
Voc rehab has lots of programs. Some that have to do with computers or working with computers. Like drafting / medical billing and coding / medical transcribing / and other data entry. I'm almost sure they offer programs that would have you working ON computers as well. At least they do around here. Good luck!
Thats fantastic about your car! I would be lost without my beater van. I love driving.
Do you enjoy mechanics? Make sure to choose something you know you would enjoy. This is a great opportunity!
I'm so glad you'll be getting your car back soon. Mechanics sounds like a great idea, but don't forget what a whizz you are at fixing computers!
Take Care

I never understood that attitude people have about the service industry. Someone has to fix cars and cut hair. Why not someone who wants to and is good at it?
Best news all day about your car! Can't wait until it is in your driveway.
Have you heard of the A+ computer program? I know some people who have taken the course and learned how to build and repair computers. You take a test to become nationally and internationally certified. This enables you to get an entry level job in the computer field. You seem like a computer wiz to me!
It is good to check out all your options!!
CJM-R,
I actually was going to take the test. I had been drink and smoke free for six months. I was living at home at the time with my parents. I had a relapse with the alcohol and smoking and missed the test. I paid like $200 and something dollars to take it. Drinking has robbed me of so many opportunities.
having quite heavy anxiety issues myself with work i think work as a mechanic would be good trade as you don't really have to deal with the public so much; especially say if you were working in a government shop (like city, county, etc) or say maintaining a fleet of vehicles (like UPS or some other company).
good to hear things are going well for you.

Great news Andrew, both with your Honda and vocational rehab!
You know I've been thinking about you today with all our snow!
I know I said this before, but I own the same color Honda CRV as you do, and now knowing that yours is an 01', I know now that it is exactly like mine. Very cool! I will hope and pray for a key match, so that you can be driving it sooner then later.
Voc-Rehab will be a wonderful thing for your life. Be receptive to all that will happen when you meet with them on Thursday.

Sir:
Very nice news about the car. What are the various options for training at the voc-ed center? There are likely many you might find appealing, and it is good to try to narrow down your focus before going in so you can make your decision with thought instead of having to choose at the last moment.
I hope you continue to have a good day. I, too, have been feeling more content with life, and even with the start of the new semester, things have good without significant difficulty. Hope to see you at my site sometime soon, too!

I am happy that you will soon have your car back! I hope you get into mechanics school. Luckily, you're young enough that they will train you. Wishing you all the best. You're a good friend.

GREAT NEWS! Hopefully, you'll have your car back by the weekend. Our van has been in the shop for a week and I was soooo glad to get it back, even though we have another vehicle. My husband calls our van my "footlocker". A woman needs to have her stuff with her, you know! Look at all the options for the vocational rehab and have several in mind that you would like to pursue. I didn't know you have good mechanical skills, in addition to your computer skills.
what about computer repair? its still doing mechanical stuff.
i never thought in a million years i would get a job working with computers.
you can do it andrew!
How exciting and a little scary to have so much to look forward to. I am looking for a job myself right now. I haven't worked outside the home in nearly 7 years, but worked 22 before that. I dread the initial intervioew, getting to know people, learning a new job part. Yet I look forward to meeting new people and having my own money again.
