Oh, what lives they live! When we got Jezzy she was 13 and had routinely produced 2 litters of pups per year, some litters being up to 10. I don't know if the people ever made any money selling the pups but when her last litter was born, when she was 12, she only had one, and it must have been malformed because she disposed of it herself. So she remained on a chain in the yard. We inherited her when we got the house in Rickman. She was just there in the yard, waiting....
So 3 years ago, I promised her she'd make it inside. She was "a biter" and totally not housetrained. We got her spayed, and trusting us. We had to crate her at night at first but she caught on really fast and now is such a good girl.
I know Maggie had a "past" too. Isn't it funny how we weren't looking for dogs but they were looking for us?

Usually they start getting grey around their muzzle.
She has been such a good dog for you. I know you will miss her when her day comes to pass.
