My Chewbacca. My cherub pup.
Her name is Maggie. She has a terrible underbite in need of a canine orthodontist. She smells like Fritos. She follows me through every room. She doesn't mind I'm schizophrenic, or an old recovering and stodgy drunk. She doesn't leave me for other men, or because my "issues" are too much to bear. Every trip and back from the house, I am greeted at the door to a wiggling dance of joy, as if I were gone for years. We sleep together. My showers are spent with her laying near on the floor. Pizza is shared as she looks up at me with those doe eyes waiting for the next morsel of crust, pepperoni, and mozzarella cheese. Thus ends my ode to my Chewbacca. My cherub pup. My faithful companion through thick and thin. I believe all mentally ill people should have a companion pet if they are able to maintain one. They soothe the troubled soul. Man's best friend was never a more apt phrase.

I agree. I love my dog to pieces. Maggie is very cute!
What a sweetie! I'm sure she would get along great with my doggies. There is nothing better than a furry friend. I sometimes call my doxie "Dr. Max" since he is such a comfort when we're sick or feeling depressed.
In the same vein, my late best friend had a lovely chihuahua named "Yoda".
Such a doll! Whn I was 6, I had this bushy doggie doll tht looks just like Maggie except the doll was yellow!
Hope u had a good lunch! Let me guess..pizza?
Great name! She does look like a Chewbacca. I can't agree more about how dogs can bring so much to our lives and I'm so glad you and Maggie have each other. She needs you just as much, don't forget that.
a pet is good for the lonely, too
Maggie is adorable. What breed is she? How old is she? I searched your archives for when you got her and couldn't go back that far! I have a little black kitty to keep me sane.

I dont have a dog, but if I could, it would be one like Maggie I just know it!

Fellow dog lover, I hear you and understand what you are saying. Kudos to you and Maggie
There is no better friend in the world than a dog. They forgive & forget, are always happy to be with you, protective, never judge and dependable. If only humans could manage to be half as wonderful.
agree 100%. i love her little face. my dog has gotten me through many dark moments. keep passing the open windows andrew - you have a lot to give ---
i check in on you a few times a day and am pulling for you in every way

She reminds me of the dog in the BENJI movie!

She is a sweet dog, just who you need for a friend.
My dog is named Maggie too. Yours is so cute! I love dogs!
I remember someone asking one of his neighbors why he liked his dog so much. He answered: "Unlike my wife, my dog loves me rich or poor, drunk or sober".
That was beautiful! Pets are a true gift and so very soothing to the soul. You know petting and loving your pet is said to bring down blood pressure and release pleasure endorphins that can lighten the mood! See, fun, loving and good for you!
Maggie has such beautiful eyes! I'm so glad you have her around!
Be careful with the pizza, tomoatoes are not good for dogs. I just give mine the dry rust on the edge.
Soo adorable! Maggie reminds me of TOTO from the Wizard of Oz...so cute!! love her underbite!!
You are very correct with that-having a pet really helps...I hope you can help Joyce make that decision for another pet..that may help her as it's helped you.
Always,
Crusty~
Funny, My sister says her dog smells like fritos too. She has a Rottweiler.
