A dusting of snow we got a few years ago. |
Major winter storm forecast for Eastern U.S.
A potentially crippling winter storm is anticipated for portions of the mid-Atlantic Friday into early Saturday. Snowfall may approach two feet for some locations, including the Baltimore and Washington, DC, metro areas. Farther north, there is uncertainty in snowfall for the New York City-to-Boston corridor. Farther south, significant icing is likely for portions of Kentucky and North Carolina.
It is supposed to get very stormy here at the end of our week. We have a 100 chance of rain today with very gusty winds. Tomorrow, we have a 50% chance of snow showers. Did I say snow? Why, yes, I did. It takes a very special set of weather conditions for us to get snow. The stars and planets have to be aligned just right. They are saying only a half inch to an inch, but that will shut down this small Southern town like a major disaster. We don't have snow plows and salt trucks here. They, the city, will just put sand out on the bridges. I have to remind my father that three of our five cars have all-wheel-drive. That old joke about people rushing the grocery stores for milk and bread is pretty much true. I, for one, welcome our new snow bearing overlords.

I have all wheel drive but that doesn't help if icy...
They're calling for 12"-16" here tonight through Saturday AM. I'm beyond the age of being happy about this. :/
