May the Weather Model Gods Be With Us...
It doesn't look like much does it? The National Weather Service is hinting at a much larger event. They are waiting for the next few model runs and then will update our forecast. Even if it doesn't snow, then we are in for several very cold days and nights after the front passes from the north.

I live in Denver, CO. A storm that we had a number of years ago, was much bigger than predicted. They didn't want to alarm people, and decided to play it down. After the fact, they realized it is better to over predict than to under predict. Some people, but not all, do listen to predictions and prepare appropriately. This includes school districts and employers, as well as John Citizen.
Since that big storm, they are giving a potential range, so people are aware and can do some grocery shopping in advance and plan for what they are going to do if we do get a couple feet of snow, or if it is going to be below zero for a few days.
