That is what my father asked me as I took this photo today as we were in his car. He had just gotten finished berating me for not shaving this morning. Doesn't he look stern? I am afraid of the man.
Got to remember he is your father, NOT your friend...so you are in his car being berated for not shaving...He doesnt look mean, or scarey to me...But I dont have a reason to fear him, so I don't.
You are worth so much more, just look at the art that you share with us each day~ Amazing!!
You have such a handsome father! I see where you get your good looks. I know you aren't really scared of your dad. He means well and he loves you. He is just trying to help. Thanks for sharing.
As parents, many times we measure our successes thru our children's lives. "If my child is successful (whatever that means), then I am a good parent, teacher, adult, etc. What is successful to him may not at all be what is successful to you.
From reading your blogs, it sounds like your dad loves you very much. He also sounds like he is worried to death about you...so much his heart aches.
As a parent myself (a 12 year old boy, and an 8 year old boy with Down syndrome), nothing hurts more than seeing my children hurting.
You know, it could be that you are not really afraid of your dad. You know that he is going to tell you stuff you don't want to hear, and because he is your Dad, you haven't been able to talk with him like an adult. My brother has always been like that with my parents, it has nothing to do with illness, it has to do with maturity on the child's part and the ability to let go on the parent's part. Even when he is angry with you, he never has given up. You haven't given up on him either. There is a lot of good going on here.
He's not "inherently" scary. He looks kinda like you. And very handsome too. Tell him your fans like the way he looks. What kind of car is he driving? I like the things you're not supposed to notice. BTW, the pics below are gorgeous.
Oh noes! He looks like me when I'm mad at one of my kids! Seriously, though, parents can be pretty scary. I've been on both ends. As a parent, I want the best for my kids. I want them to be happy, to have many friends, be successful, yadda yadda yadda and it hurts when I see that two are isolated and different from others. So sometimes I nag them too. :( But it's not from spite.
This made me laugh. The photo, I mean, because he actually looks like he's afraid you will use it on the blog. Don't be afraid of him, I know it's hard, but he's just a man, just like you. He is a nice looking man---like you. :)
He actually reminds me of my own father somewhat. Is he ex-military too by chance? My Father is and his soldiers actually believed my Father made me and my sister line up our shoes up in our closets. :) Sometimes I think my own father is stern but I know he loves me and means well. I imagine your Father is that way too. Parents always mean well for their children even though sometimes they can be stern and hard to cope with. I guess that's why they are called parents.
he doesn't totally look stern, does he know you posted his pic here? i have noticed that you have been posting lots of pics here, you get good pics, always a wonder to look at^^
Photoshop some horns on him and then let me look again. :-D He just looks concerned about his pic being posted..hee hee... Tell him that you let your neighbor borrow your razor and see what he says. :-D
Thanks for sharing your feelings about your dad - I used to place so much value on the stern words of my parents that I feared them as well. I wish we could have had a closer relationship - I would have liked that.
BTW, I think your dad looks guarded as in afraid to have his picture blogged....

I would be afraid of him also.
Even stern looking he has a slight smile on his lips. Can't be all bad...

I am so enjoying your photos!
Momma hugs,

Stern yes but there is kindness behind those eyes... Alot of love too.
So cool to see what your dad looks like finally though!
You have his eyes... he is surprisingly just how I pictured him.

Sorry, I double posted. I'm not very blog savvy!

Hi Dad! You look just like I thought you would.
Don't be afraid of him, Andrew.
There will be a time in your future when he is gone, and you don't want any regrets. There is so much I'd like to say to my Mother..... but I can't.
You can. :-)
So he doesn't mind having his picture posted? Does he read the blog?
I agree with folks, he is a handsome man!
Also, your panoramic photo came out GREAT!! All the photos are so beautiful. Great job.
Take care,
Lena

Oh yeah...another thought--to a parent, a child is still a child no matter how old he or she gets. Just can't help it, I guess...
