We Need Spring to Step In and Take Over!

It is a cold blustery day here in the Southland. The wind has been just howling around my windows making this old house creak and moan. I needed a caffeine fix and drove over to my father's house to get two more Diet Cokes and I about froze to death. It took my car forever to warm up. It was getting warm as soon as I was pulling in my father's driveway.

We have frost warnings for the morning. Every time my lawn starts to get green, we get another frost and it kills it back. Things are looking up, though. Temperatures should be back into the seventies this weekend accompanied by more rain and storms.

Did I tell you about our storms the other night? I was feeling my nocturnal roots and stayed up to 2 AM to witness them arrive. They put on quite a light show with lots of thunder. Crash, bang, boom!

No Snap Crackle Pop For You...

Once again, the Magster and I slept through THE storm of 2016.  I do vaguely remember it thundering loudly at one point.  That storm last night is also why I have nice "no money spared" surge suppressors and UPS (uninterruptable power supplies) units on all my computers and electronics.  The storm tripped the surge suppressor on my bedroom computer and the one on my home theater.  I reset them both and all was working like clockwork again.

Charlie made a surprise stop at lunch to finish cutting my hair.  We had almost started the other night and we got sidetracked. Charlie wanted to "shape things up" as he put it. He also had a checkup about his eyes which was why he was off from work.  I balked, but got in the chair in my laundry room after Charlie shampooed my hair and then covered me with a sheet and got to work. It took Charlie about ten to twenty minutes to cut my hair while Charlie filled my ears with a plethora of local gossip. My father will be very pleased tonight when he arrives for the Medication Ritual. I was looking pretty shaggy there for a moment.

"I should have finished this weeks ago," Charlie told me forlornly. "You know how life can get busy and you keep putting stuff off."

I agreed with Charlie and told him I am the king of procrastination.  I was just ecstatic to no longer have to hide my hair under a baseball cap.

And the Weather Begins to Get Interesting…

I’m not going to get groceries if it is stormy much to my father’s chagrin.

Just a Friendly Ride Down the Interstate…

32170-1Mom and I embark on a little trip to Books-a-Million down on the plains of Auburn this morning.  I am way ahead of the game having gotten up at 6am. She is supposed to call me at 9am to make sure I am up. We leave at 10am eastern time.

I slow simmered my spaghetti meat sauce all night and I was hoping it turned out well and it did this morning. The whole house smelled so wholesome of spaghetti sauce.   All it needs is a little salt, a liberal sprinkle of parmesan cheese, and it is done. I’ve boiled the noodles and mixed them in which will further thicken the sauce until lunch rolls around.

On an interesting note, we had a whopper of a  violent electrical storm roll through just at dusk last night and we didn’t get power back on until hours later after midnight. I opened up the screened in porch and some windows in the back of the house, which Maggie loved, to get a cool breeze blowing through the house.   I also had to unload all my groceries in the dark as well which proved interesting with my gimped and broken foot. I was watching the end of a movie, Interstellar, on my iPad when the power thankfully clicked back on and all my gadgets, lights, and doodads came back on and whirred to life.

As I had surmised on the shopping front, dad had a hissy fit that I was cooking all week.  I got a ton of food for my money, though, and he had to agree.
