Tijuana Mama

I have a new addiction. These pickled sausages called Tijuana Mamas. I bought four this morning along with two Surge energy drinks.

"You are going to get sick," Rosa said of my over indulgence.

I ate all four sausages and they are so hot that tears were pouring down my cheeks. I quickly drank both ice cold energy drinks.

"God, those are so delicious," I told Rosa, wiping the tears from my face.

Rosa looked at the label of one eaten sausage.

"They have pork and beef hearts in them!" she exclaimed. "That is just gross and you smell like vinegar."

I laughed.

"I could eat four more," I said.

Rosa and me left Fat Albert's to walk back up the street to my house.

"When do you finally move?" she asked as we walked.

"Tomorrow," I said. "I have been waiting on my internet to get hooked up."

I worry I am going to see much less of Rosa when I move. My new house is not in walking distance of all my favorite haunts. I will be dependent upon that damned car of mine. At least I will have much more independence from my family.

I am so excited for you. I'm still planning on making it that way later this summer. Not sure about those sausages though! Sounds a bit much for me. I'm slowly learning to like some spicy foods.

I hope you can post new pictures of the place soon! Let us know how Maggie enjoys the new digs as well.

Andrew, how much farther is the new place? Is it in a different part of town, even? Just trying to picture it all in my mind.

Hugs...

I have never heard of those sausages - I bet my husband would love them though, he adores spicy food.

I'm so excited for you that you're moving in tomorrow! I hope you enjoy your first night in the new house. :)

Cindi,

It is several miles away from where I live now. It is in a big neighborhood well away from downtown. My current house is only a five minute walk from downtown and all the shops and convenience stores. I am going to miss being able to walk everywhere.

yep we have to take the good with the bad. i hope overall it is a good move for you.

p.s...we all know there are worse things to overindulge in than pickled sausages, so enjoy!

Get a cheap bicycle from craigslist and ride your bicycle to town.

The move will be good for you. It will give you more independence. Perhaps you can start hiking again. Remember that you want to conquer those mountains one day. Besides, Annabel will be coming soon and you are sure to have a grand time! You will just love her Andrew! She is so personable and outgoing. I am jealous she gets to meet you. Anyway, have a wonderful day sweetcheeks!

Can't say I'd ever eat those sausages...I get addicted to things like candy corn and jelly beans. It's the sugar.

Can you believe you're really moving? I'm guessing you'll miss your old house, the familiarity of it, and the convenience of the location. I know you'll get used to your new one, and the fact that it belongs to you and you alone. I remember the pictures and how nice the house is. Still, it's a big change. And, like you said, you'll have to drive places.

Is it still going to be so hot tomorrow? It's been so terrible here. I've stayed inside in the air conditioning since coming back from Emily's camp.

My daughter loves those things also. They make me gag when she gets them at the little store we stop at on the way to school each day....ewww...but to each their own.

Congrats on moving into the new place...I know it is going to be GREAT!

When I was pregnant with my son, I was first introduced to pickled sausages. While most pregnant women craved ice cream and cookies, I walked to the carry-out every afternoon and bought them out of pickled sausages, beef jerky, pork rinds, etc. (They're still one of my favorite 'gas station grabs'.) I guess noone told Rosa that one never reads the ingredients or looks too closely at a pickled meat of any sort...

Hi Andrew,

I wish one day I could also have a taste of Tijuana Mama. I will check them out here in the Philippines if they are available. Always take care!

I can't help but laugh because you're wiping tears off your face yet you absolutely love them! LOL I love this post.. I can just picture Rosa investigating the ingredients and scolding you. Thanks for the laugh.

Maybe you will make new friends in your new neighborhood. You can still drive to town or bike like someone else suggested. It will help you wear off those sasages and energy drinks and maybe make you have less insomnia. With all that coffee and energy drinking it's no wonder you don't sleep well. Yikes!

Thanks for the visual picture regarding the pickle sausages..they look like they could go with anything....I know, I really do have a problem. :)

I'm jealous! :) I want to meet you too!! I have family in Athens AL.

Hmm, well, as far as the distance goes..is there a common spot that you could drive to and then walk into town? Say near your soon to be former residence? Couldn't you park your car at your parents house, and walk from there?

Always,
Crusty~
When do you plan on having your first nights sleep there? Are you going to ask Rosa to stay over that night as well, to help with getting used to the new noises every home makes?

Sir:

Why did you take down your Friday post about the AA meeting? It did not seem troublesome.

I'm excited for you on the move Andrew!! I didn't realize it was much further away.

You'll find Sylvia's books at your local library, altho the south is a bit iffy on their openmindedness.
