Cured

Went for my daily walk. Was thinking about my mental illness. Maybe I am cured? I feel so well lately -- bereft of any mental ailments. A miracle from God?

Still no news from Burger King or Domino's. I am sadly desperate and will take any job that comes my way. I just want to make some money and my father continues to hold my disability money away.

Heard from Clara today. She is in the program for alcoholics down at the Columbus Rescue Mission. She called me to let me know she is okay. "It's tough," she said. "They keep you busy." I thought about staying busy myself. Staying busy is so key to staying sober.

You seem so grounded, so sure of what you want and you are going for it. Good for you.

We are all keeping you in our thoughts. Are you still volunteering?

Did you go back to the Humane Society?

No Glenda. I did not. I was embarrassed about missing that day. I fear they wouldn't want me back. C'est le vie!

Staying busy is key to everything. I know I feel much better busy.

Glad to hear about Clara. Any chance you could write more about you and Rosa?

I like the new look of the blog.

I like the colors too. Accept the good days as the gifts they are. Deciding you are cured is not the way to stay well, building on what you learn on the good days will help there be more of them.

I don't know about miracle cures, Andrew, but I am so delighted that you are feeling much better! When life is going good for you, it lifts my spirits too! If you want a job, just keep looking and applying, and at some point you'll hit on the right situation. Determination is everything! You are right about staying busy, it is the key to sanity, sobriety, and satisfaction! :-) Boredom gets us all into trouble.

It was so nice to hear such a good report from Clara. The fact that she is giving it a good try is no doubt due to your influence, you did a good thing helping her get there, and encouraging her to try sobriety!

Will you be passing out candy for trick or treaters tomorrow nite?

Sending positive thoughts your way, Andrew... I hope you get the job... any job... so long as that is what you want and it means your happiness. Good to hear that Clara is okay.

Sir:

I am not sure if you noticed, but I found your e-mails to me and I have replied.

As far as your post about being embarassed about returning to the humane society.... to me that is "stinkin thinkin" of the sort that is very anti-moderation. You are not perfect, and neither is the humane society. You are a volunteer and for Pete's sake, you can make a mistake or two. MODERATE thinking would allow you to say.... "Oh well, I made a mistake... I can pick myself up, dust myself off, and head back and apologize and return to the volunteer work."

That is, if you found the volunteering at the humane society valuable to you as part of your plan to serve the greater good. If you found the job boring, then it is fine to stop going.

Moderation is the key to happiness!

Go back to the Humane Society - they need you. Trust me, they don't care that you missed a day.

I'm glad Clara is staying busy and doing well. You'll hear back from the jobs. Don't worry. How wonderful that you still feel so good!

sad that you didn't go back to the humane society. it's ok to make a mistake and say 'sorry'... unfortunately this is the problem many places have with volunteers- all gung-ho for a day then they vanish, leaving everyone else to pick everything up again. committment is hard.

I was glad to hear Clara called and that she is doing okay. Okay is good enough for now. I hope she is successful in her endeavor to keep sober and make a new life. Keeping busy is the key. Go on back to the Humane Society. They won't care you missed a few days, they need people to volunteer.

that is the truth! busy is good. you and i are motivated by different circumstances of course, but i know that feeling of desperately wanting employment, and how long the waiting game can feel. it is a terribly frustrating process, but stick it out and you will find what you are looking for! things have a way of falling into place when you least expect it.

I understand about the Humane Society.. I always feel that it's OK for others to make mistakes, but my mistakes are never forgivable. *sigh* As for healing, I do believe in it..whether it's instant or a slow, learning healing. I often pray that my stupid anxieties would just go away and I could be like normal people.
