Apprehensive...

No more non-prescribed medications was what my doctor told my father.  Dad took it well and agreed.  The doctor upped my Luvox from 50 mg to 100 mg saying that would stop my panic attacks.  He had an a-ha moment in the office when looking at my medications past and present.  I am extremely dubious, but I haven't had an attack in two days.  I attribute this to the Klonopin I am taking.  The doctor wouldn't prescribe me more immediately and told me to call him when I run out of what I am taking.  This worries me.  I realize it is addicting, but I need it to feel better.

Klonopin is a benzodiazepine and it's VERY addictive. Do what they say, take it as prescribed ONLY so that you can continue to take it. It helped my Mother with her anxiety and panic attacks, but eventually..... it became a problem.

I'm glad your dad agreed. If the Luvox works, you may not need the Klonopin. Just wait and see.

Thank goodness for that. Finally a doctor who has been saying what most of us on here have been saying for months.

I'm glad your doc put his foot down - I'm sure secretly he was having conniptions with the way your Dad was handing out pills like candy to you.

I'm crossing fingers and toes this will eliminate the panic attacks.

No more non-prescription meds - HOORAY! I was getting really worried about your well-being with all that going on, so this is great to hear. Don't be worried about the Klonopin. Your doctor is monitoring you and knows what he's doing. There are probably tons of other reasons aside from the addictiveness factor why he's waiting. Maybe he wants to see how well you do on the new Luvox regimen first? Possibly, you won't need the Klonopin anymore.

Sir:

I hope your father listens to your doctor and does not try to get you to take other pills.

one day at a time...are these proven to be physically addicting? honestly, i believe that anything can be addicting...benadryl, alleve, migraine meds, cough syrup...so, unless this medicine is as addicting as something like oxycontin i would try it if i were you.

Ditto what Pipe Tobacco said.

Benzodiazapene withdrawal is like being in hell. I'm sure that's why he won't give you a script for the Klonopin.

I'm SO SO glad you talked to the Dr. and your Dad took it well.

A big sigh of relief here, my friend.

Hugs...

Andrew, please let the higher dosage of Luvox take effect before you take anything else. Luvox alone could do the trick. My 23 year old son son has been on Luvox for years, he also takes 100mg. a day. Raising the dosage from 50mg. to 100mg. made a tremendous difference for him. Perhaps the mixture of all the other stuff you were taking, prescription and non-prescription, were what triggered some of your panic attacks? I hope the Luvox helps, and know that we'll be praying for you here.
