The Truth is More Preposterous than Fiction...

I was sitting here at my computer a moment ago when I see this guy in a wheel chair missing both his legs come rolling down the street. It was drizzling and he looked miserable. Well? He wheeled through my front yard and knocked on my door. How he got up the steps, I will never know. Maggie went ape-shit bananas - barking like I rarely ever hear her bark. She's a good judge of character so I didn't answer the door. It was like something out of the twilight zone.   I didn't want to be the victim in the case of the legless killer.

I think most dogs do go mad at wheelchairs..even normally sweet natured ones, my daughter is in a wheelchair (multiple sclerosis)and she gets a totally different reaction from friends dogs while she is in it..but once she gets out, they calm down and are fine again...i suppose its not usual to see folk with wheels. Even her own dog gives her a wide berth when she is in it..its very strange.

i have the worst trouble answering the door (and the phone), so if a wheelchair-bound person miraculously made it up my front steps and rang the doorbell... i wouldn't answer either!

If you wondered why a guy without legs could get up your steps so QUICKLY...you should have peeped behind the curtains just to see that Andrew..but poor unfortunate folk who have lost limbs (or are disabled in other ways)simply have to learn to'compensate' for their disabilities, my daughter who has had multiple sclerosis since she was 19 (although she has got both her legs) is totally unable to use them in any way...but she can get up the stairs faster than i can...we laugh about it...i am so sad that the guy was thought of as sinister just because he had no legs, and was able to move quickly....but folk with disabilitires are often ridiculed, it is so sad..My daughter is the sweetest person you could wish to meet, but some folk snigger when they see her or some even give her a wide berth..as if she as something wrong with her..yet if they took the time to speka to her, they would she is warm funny & completely normal. she has a husband and 2 grown up childrewn , does ALL the cooking & housework herself, and is as hard working as a so called able bodied person..she is also very forgiving and doesn't resent folk who give her a wide berth...but tries to understand...i one the other hand get very upset for her, and all disabled people..they are not most of them freaks or weirdo's..just folk who have learned to adapt to the sad card life as dealt them. You seem such a nice person Andrew i do hope you could perhaps at least talk to the guy if you see him again...even out of the window if you do not feel you could see him face to face..initially..he might have been an angel in dosguise..who knows.
