- I was feeling really ill awhile ago, but it eased up. I am at a comfortable, but sleepy stasis at the moment.
- Began work in my yard. Did quite a few trimming of the hedges, but the heat thwarted me. Will do a little every day. I think I can trim it faster than it grows! :)
- Read lots of material on panic attacks, anxiety attacks, and generalized anxiety disorder. Have incorporated deep breathing into my arsenal to fight these attacks.
- Fixed Maggie and I a lunch of delicious ham sandwiches. Maggie was overjoyed at the extra ham I garnered her sandwich with.
- Cleaned my kitchen and got all the dirty dishes in the dish washer. This badly needed done and dad made me promise to do it if he gave me two extra Klonopin the other night.

Careful with the deep breathing. i have found during my attacks I tend to hyperventilate and actually try to slow my breathing.

Andrew - none of us has to live in your skin. You need to do this at your pace, in your way. We are here to support you and back you up.
I keep hoping that you can find that balance you had going for a while. Seemed like you were doing pretty well there . . . and then WHAM! Everything went out of whack.
Hang in there, Sweetie, I'll be here - just waiting for any old opportunity to nag you - or cheer you on! Keep at it and do what you must to stay straight and keep healthy, PLEASE!?

It's amazin' how psychiatric medicines can turn a heck-raisin' tomcat into such a docile kitten!These drugs are palliatives rather than cures ; they succeed marvelously as chemical strait-jackets,not that there is anything wrong with that. One thing I DO find really creepy is how Andy's dad repeatedly tells his son that he is just like his mother. Does he see Andrew as emotional,ditsy and totally lacking in manly qualities?? Most fathers like to think of their sons as " chips off the same block ."- a different anonymous

I find the deep breathing works well for anxiety because you can't do deep breathing quickly. It has also helped with migraines. I am glad you are looking at alternatives as well as the meds the dr prescribes. They can work well together.
I had my very first bonafide anexity attack the other day as my own health declines....
I thought about you and harvest a deep understanding now what you are going thru.

I think you can do anything once you put your mind to it, you seem to have more inner strength than you give yourself credit for. I hope you regain some sense of balance like you had before, and only wish you the best.

Hey my friend...I know how hard yard work is, but, I find it to be great therapy. Do a little each day to help with your symptoms.

Summer is right, yard work can be great therapy in itself. I have to do the breathing exercises myself. Sometimes they do ward off the attacks. But, I have also found that if I am already having a severe attack (like Matt described) it does not help the attack when I am going to hyperventilate anyway. But, the deep breathing alone can help relax you even if you are not anxious. Hang in there Andrew! :)

I am sadly believing that you are fully ensconced in the sleep pattern of Zyprexa, and that your posts will be weekly instead of daily because of this status.
Regardless, however, please know that you have many friends, and we will keep you in our thoughts and hope that someday you will again be able to participate in long days of activity and regular intervals (aka 8 hours a day) of rest.

Hey you! I missed you! But I have exciting news!!! Are you ready!!! I now have Kriket broadband internet connection! Yeah! We are officially out of the dino age! No more dial-up!
Yard work is great therapy! I really need to tend to the few weeds (HA) in our flower beds. Also, have you thought about trying to plant a small garden. That might get you outside more and be really good for your spirits! Miss you alot! Hopefully, I will be reading every night now! can't wait to catch up with my friend!
