Do you want fries with that?

Well, I am the newest employee of McDonald's.  The interview went well.  I start Monday night and work from 10 PM to 7 AM.  Boy, am I ever going to be tired that first night.  I won't be the first time I've worked third shift.  In the early nineties, I worked as a forklift driver in a towel warehouse third shift.  I enjoyed working third better than any other.

I think this job is important to me learning to work again.  It is an entry level job, and will allow me to build up a resume again.  I will be very nervous come Monday night, though.  I am so scared I will have one of my vicious anxiety attacks due to the stress.  We will just have to tackle that when it arises.

Hey. Good work, fella. I started my road back to work with a job in Southampton docks, cleaning cars off the roll-on/roll-off transporters..

Take it steady. Hungry Angry Lonely Tired can creep up on you.

Well done, mate. The Promises....remember the Promises!

Congratulations. Just getting the job is such a big deal. Remember that most people are really nervous about starting a new job. One of the reasons I've stayed where I'm at for so long is the nervousness to start somewhere new.

I'll catch up with you later.

It'll be fine...at least with the late shift you won't get a crowd of people all at once...Good luck...

Hi Andrew! Congratulations! I know what you mean about getting anxious - I have found that if I acknowledge that I can get anxious and give myself permission to become anxious, it somehow diminishes the pressure of becoming anxious about getting anxious :-) ...............The best to you, Andrew!

Way to go! You conquered the first hurdle. I like the way you gave a good try even though it didn't sound too appealing to you. Others would have quit at that point, but not Andrew!

Congrats!!! This is fantastic news :) And 3rd shift will mean no big crowds of people so less anxiety. Give yourself permission to be nervous the first few days--everyone is when they start a new job. I can't wait to hear the stories from McDonald's.

Third shift may not be so bad. I don't think it will be as busy as a dinner or breakfast shift you know? I think you will be fine. Did they tell you what the job entails? Well, congrats nonetheless.

I just remembered, your pills! How will you meet up with Dad for your pills? You have to leave for work by 9:30pm and Dad sometimes arrives after that...

wow. excellent.
Get PLENTY of rest while your body adjusts to this new workload. youd be surprised how tired you get in the beginning. lots of water. rest. decent food if possible. sleep! and dont take on other major projects just yet. one thing at a time. rome wasnt built in a day. just take it easy. you'll get there!

Im SERIOUSLY impressed and VERY excited. we are all rooting for you andrew. i know how hard it is going back to work after a long time off work. my hat is off to you.

Congratulations on the new job! It is hard working the overnight shift, I worked it at ick-walmart-for about 9 months until I quit to become self-employed. It was really really hard to stay awake-I worked 2 nights in the cash office by myself all night and had to soak paper towels in cold water to put on my face to stay awake!
Good luck to you and try not to stress too much, it's just hamburgers so if you mess up it's really easy to fix!

I'm a betting man and I say you never even show up for day one. You'll make up some excuse, everyone on here will agree with you and you will remain under your father's control.

Anonymous is telling you what happened in his life, not yours. Some people feel so small themselves they have to tear down others to make themselves feel better.
