Do you get troubled by mosquitoes where you live? They and black flies are just brutal here.
I was thinking about your train watching and if they made it uncomfortable for you.

Amelia, I've heard horror tales of the biting black flies up north. The mosquitoes here usually only come out at dusk and twilight. There is nothing else that bites us this far South. My main worry when watching trains is getting badly sunburned. I am very fair skinned and will get burned to a crisp if I don't apply sunscreen.
