I think you had a really great point in your blog when you said there are Christian all over the world meddling in indigenous peoples beliefs and traditions. My sister in law loves to brag about her trips to Haiti to feed kids and build schools, but those poor kids can't have one mouthful until they agree to become Christians and go to her church services. That pisses me off. If it was really being done in the spirit of giving, who cares how they worship or if they even do? Great to see you with such a positive attitude! Have a nice day :)
Personally i think Muslims do far more to try & convert people to their beleifs than Christians.( at least in this country )Having said that i do have some very dear friends who follow Islam. Although i am a believer i try NEVER to berate someone into my beliefs, & only ever mention them when the subject comes up..however i do admit some Christians can do more HARM than good simply by their attitude..and this is Sad !!!..However when you mention Religion in a blog, it always causes bad feelings because it is such an emotive subject...everyone believes they are right. I dont think i will comment on that subject again...I just hope whatever you choose you are happy Andrew..I tried so many things before i found the one that i knew was the one i believed in and no matter what happens i my life, it will never change my Faith.
By the way...the friends of Jenn..must indeed give a terrible picture of Christians..i would like to know what church they belong to ??..as most who do that sort of work..do so with NO expectations of a convert whatsoever..they just do it because it is what they care about i.e. the starving.. with NO agenda whatso ever.. just doing what they feel is right obeying the Bible..anything less is certainly NOT a Christian action...but their are so many 'Religions' that call themselves Christian..that really are not, and anyone who asks for an admissioin of faith before supplying the strving with food ..certainly falls into this Category...I just had to say this as i hate things that are daming..yet untrue..i'm surethese organisations exist..but they are NOT Christian.
Interesting. I also had trouble with the concept that my religion was based on where I was born. But, then, logically everything can't be equally true. There are subjective "truths," sure, but when it comes to the nature of ultimate reality . . .
Ultimately, I was drawn to Jesus. And so much in the Bible resonated with me. Have you ever read Proverbs? But, yes, some (many) Christians can be overbearing.
You might like Lee Strobel's "The Case for Christ." He was an atheist journalist who wanted to convince his wife to stop with the Christianity thing and ultimately got convinced himself.
Myself, I was a Jewish-Agnostic and was challenged to try God during a really bad time in my life. No pressure, just some friends who were there for me.
Hope things work out with George. This could be what he needs to come to his senses.
I really enjoy your morning videos. When I can't sleep, I think of you sometimes and wonder how you are fairing through the early morning hours. I loved hearing the train whistle yesterday when you posted. Your Maggie is an excellent judge of character and she loves Charlie for a reason. A good one.
Religion...I'm a Christian with my own strong beliefs. They aren't the beliefs of any one church though. If I'm wrong, I know He will show me the right way one day.
Your parents had a beautiful weekend here in DC. I hope they enjoyed it.
