A Vacation…
The next few days will be a vacation for me of sorts. Mom and dad are off to Washington to see my brother. This takes a LOT of pressure off me. I won’t have to “prepare” and “perform” every night for dad to come with my medications. I can let myself and the house go for a few days. I don’t have to shave. I don’t have to keep the den tidy. I can just be an all around slob! lol It makes me so nervous every night with dad coming and I don’t have to deal with that anxiety until next Tuesday.
Computer Stuff…
Charlie’s wife gave me her old laptop last night. Charlie bought her a brand new Dell Inspiron. That was so kind of her, and I was surprised at what a nice laptop it was for being several years old. I got out my old wireless router and got my wireless Internet connection back up and working. I installed Linux Ubuntu on the laptop and sat out on the porch browsing until dad got here with my medications. I was so excited and geeking out. I love computer related stuff. This was like Christmas for me. My old laptop was a piece of crap and was still running Windows98 SE. It was also another hand-me-down from Charlie’s wife. It was so slow, it was useless. Now, I can blog from the porch or my bed! AWESOME!!!!
IPad Adulations…
I so want an iPad. I comes out tomorrow. How can I come up with $499 dollars? I could beg dad and he would buy me one, but I don’t want to go through all the groveling to do so. I could also beg mom, but she would probably faint when I told her it was almost five hundred bucks. lol Where there is a will, there is a way, and I will find a way. I realize it is just a glorified iPod Touch, but I haven’t wanted something so much since I got my iPod for Christmas. Why does Apple have to make such geek addictive and enticing products?

LMAO! I know what you mean about a vacation. I feel that way when my husband works on Saturday mornings and I can slob around without the evil eye. Have fun!
Welcome to Linux!
You could save up your Itunes gift cards. I assume you can use them toward any apple product and purchase an Ipad online.
Just a thought. I am not sure if they can only be used for file downloads.
Matt,
That is a great idea! I will check into it. I have several gift cards on the way for my birthday.
I am so envious of your computer knowledge...being able to set up another computer that runs wireless, troubleshoot problems, etc. You are so very talented, Andrew.
Loved the "slob" story. I do the very same thing when I am alone...don't wash dishes, don't make the bed...for those few days. FREEDOM!
Happy Easter to you and Maggie.
I understand what you mean about slobbing around. Though my roommate is certainly nice and I hardly notice she's here, I look forward to weekends when she's gone and I can run around in my underwear.
I love having a laptop and don't think I'll ever go back to a desktop. I love the portability. I use it at my desk most often, but I also use it in the recliner, in bed, on trips... everywhere. I've been thinking about updating though because mine is really slow these days and I keep filling up the hard drive.
I do wish I had your computer knowledge though. It would be a great asset.
