Dad says he just does it by taste. You add a little lemon juice to a half cup of mayonnaise until it is tasty. Don’t overdo it or the sauce will be runny. It should turn out creamy with a lemony bite to the sauce. He will often garnish it with sliced hard boiled eggs to finish the recipe.
