Don't let the door hit you on the way out...

God,

I just got a nasty email from a long time female reader that was very condescending about no longer being able to read. They certainly won’t get an invite. I don’t need that kind of negative person in my online life.

God people, it is just a blog. It never surprises me how serious people take this whole blogging deal. I blog for me and am glad a few others enjoy what I have to say from time to time. I don't get paid to do this and this is not like television for their entertainment. I am enjoying this invite only deal more everyday.

Hello Sir:

Just a few minor comments:

1. I am surprised you feel very happy with the invite only status. For me, a part of the fun is in having wonderful regular friends read but also having new people find my site. I would miss the joy of meeting new people.

2. Please do not berate yourself over the few beers. I think you enjoy being mostly sober, so you are doing things well. But, changes of mind happen, and changes of behavior, even briefly, do not mean you are a "bad" person. I would suggest just letting it slide and realizing it is a typical kind of thing.

3. Is this cookout for you and Carolyn or for you, Carolyn and your family? I was not sure which of the above was going to happen from what you stated.

Pipe,

Thanks for the comment. The cookout is only for just I and Carolyn. I had a hankering for grilled hamburgers all day yesterday. My family is still in Florida at the beach house. I did talk to dad tonight to get directions. They are having a grand time on the beach. I head down tomorrow morning. The blog will be silent for about a week.

Different strokes for different folks as far as the public blogging thing goes. I've had up to 1500 people visit in one day and it isn't all that it is cracked up to be. The risks outweigh the gains in my opinion of being found by family and friends and you know I have struggled with that over the years. I am content with having fifteen people reading that actually care about me and will comment and join in on the blog rather the three hundred gawkers reading about my life without joining in with friendship. I also have more of an adversion to talking about more personal issues like addiction and mental illness and it invites anonymous baffoons.

There are some very strange people out there. I found out the hard way. The world revolves around them, what they think and want. It's really creepy.

I hope you have a wonderful time at the beach and Savannah. You'll be missed!

Morning Jonathon,

That was the funniest video. I wonder if the rooster got him. Did you ever see the one where the donkey (I think that's what it was) was chasing a guy that stopped to pee by the side of a road? Very funny, but scary for him.

How was your dinner with Carolyn? Domesticity really suits you.

How long will it take you to get to the beach? Are you expecting good weather? I hope you have a great time with your family. I love the beach, especially the southern ones. I went to Myrtle Beach this summer and Edisto Island the summer before.

Have a good day!

Cheryl

Have a nice trip.
I like the surprise element to readership too, but over the years its mostly the same old readers. Somewhere it becomes more than 'just a blog' more's the pity.

Do you read comments way down here, this long after you've posted?

Thanks for inviting me. It's good to "catch up."

I recently posted a comment on a message board that a friend accidentally came across, and she read it wrong, and it caused all sorts of drama for us. We're still not sure if we're going to be able to slide back into an easy friendship again, and we've been friends for 13 years. And it was just a misunderstanding, on a board she doesn't go to, in a post that wasn't even about her.

The internet can do some crazy stuff.
